Your driveway and the robot down the road are two of the highest-risk spots in your day. The good news: most incidents are opportunistic, and a few habits make you a far harder target.
Approaching your gate
The "arrive home" moment — idling while a gate opens — is a classic ambush point. Reduce your exposure:
- Slow down a block early so you reach your gate as it finishes opening, never sitting still waiting.
- Check your mirrors before you turn in. If a car follows you in, drive past your home and call for help.
- Keep the car in gear and doors locked until the gate is fully closed behind you.
At robots and stop streets
- Leave a car length in front of you so you always have room to pull away.
- Keep bags, phones and laptops out of sight, not on the passenger seat.
- Stay aware at known hotspots, especially after dark.
If you are ever stopped: do not resist for possessions. Your life is worth more than any vehicle or phone. Hand it over, get clear, and call your armed response team.
How a security partner helps
An armed response sticker is itself a deterrent. Beyond that, a panic button on your remote or phone puts a trained, armed responder on the way in seconds. X-Pert operates rapid-response vehicles in the Centurion and Samrand area, with a control room in constant contact with our officers.
